Photograph taken between 1949 and 1950 of Puerto Rican migrant workers in barracks where they slept in New York City. The photograph is physical evidence of the dilapidated conditions in which Puerto Rican workers in New York had to tolerate. It adds to the experiences of mass movement from Puerto Rico to the U.S mainland by exposing the poor conditions which workers tolerated and lived in order to make a life for themselves in New York City.
